Hannah Wastson

Hannah Watson

Hannah joined Harmony Works in March 2024, adding it to a portfolio of music education roles that includes Orchestra Director of the City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra and Senior Business Support Officer at the Sheffield Music Hub. These roles build on her previous work as Coordinator at Peak District Music Centres, and as a music teacher and head of music at secondary schools in Derbyshire.

Hannah’s childhood route into music was through violin lessons and ensemble opportunities with the Derbyshire music service, which at the time offered free lessons to all schoolchildren. Hannah and her sisters gained so much from their experiences playing with orchestras and chamber groups, developing a deep love for music that has endured through their lives – all three now work in the music industry.  She is passionate about music education and ensured that her three children all made the most of their musical opportunities throughout school, taking part in jazz groups, wind bands, orchestras, choirs and musical theatre.

Hannah still enjoys playing violin with Hallam Sinfonia, and occasionally in quartets with friends. She really values the live music experience and is lucky enough to have various family members who are involved with a wide range of music genres that she gets to see perform, anything from the BBC Philharmonic at the Bridgewater Hall to Richard Hawley, James, and small folk and indie sessions.
