Harmony Works Secures Levelling Up Funding

The Harmony Works project has taken a giant step forwards through securing a grant from the government's Levelling Up Fund as part of the Sheffield Gateway bid.

Emily Pieters, Project Director for Harmony Works commented: “This is fantastic news for Sheffield, and we are thrilled that Harmony Works is part of this success. There has never been a more important time to invest in our children and the skills they develop from studying music. Through the restoration of Canada House we will have a city centre home in Castlegate to support the musical lives of children and young people from every corner of our city. Harmony Works will be transformational, saving a unique heritage building and positioning Sheffield even more firmly as a city of music.’

The Levelling up Fund brings £20m towards three regeneration projects in the Castlegate area of Sheffield where Canada House is located. It will go towards three projects including developing the public realm around the original castle and markets area and Park Hill Art Space, one of the largest contemporary galleries outside London. Harmony Works has been recognised as a cultural and educational investment which fits with the regeneration ideals of giving more physical, social and educational access for all.
