Harmony Works has reached another major milestone: last week we went out to tender for our Principal Contractor.
This is a hugely significant step as we seek the right delivery partner for the refurbishment and extension of Canada House — transforming one of Sheffield’s most important historic buildings into a vibrant new home for music, learning and opportunity.
It’s exciting to see years of vision, partnership and determination moving decisively towards delivery. Reaching this stage has taken an enormous collective effort from an exceptionally committed, creative and talented team. The tender package includes over 401 drawings, 119 specification documents/consultant & survey reports, 4GB of files (the equivalent of streaming music at high quality for almost 28 hours) reflecting years of planning, collaboration and technical development.
Working on one of Sheffield’s finest buildings brings real responsibility. Our approach is ambitious, innovative and respectful of the building’s heritage, while always focused on creating a place where young people can thrive.
This project represents a major investment in young people, cultural future and city centre. Social value is central to the project, and our chosen contractor will help deliver T-Level placements, hard hat tours, careers talks and wider opportunities for young people to engage with the built environment and creative industries.
At Harmony Works Sheffield, learning, creativity and opportunity sit at the heart of everything we do.
Huge thanks to the whole team, and in particular Matt Beaumont, Robert Evans, Dan Greenway, Chris Gibbs, Jamie Risner, Martin Perryman, Andrew Gaunt, Helen Johnson, Mell Naylor, Evans Vettori Architects, Arup, BWA, T&T, Crucible Project Management, CMS LLP, ADT Acoustics, JP Fire.
