Harmony Works Welcomes Partner Organisations

Harmony Works is delighted to announce the addition of two Partners. Brass Bands England and Music in the Round have joined the project and, as part of the partnership, will also occupy space in Harmony Works on completion of the repurposing of Canada House.

Founded in 1968 as the British Federation of Brass Bands, Brass Bands England aims to support brass bands throughout the country and help build a strong future for them. They are an Arts Council England’s Sector Support Organisation and, as part of this, provide support to the wider music and arts sector. They also seek to increase participation and connect with communities. Clair Donnelly, Digital Marketing, Communications & PR Manager for Brass Bands England said, “as an organisation without a performance space of our own, we are extremely excited to be joining Harmony Works, ‘a home for music’ in the heart of Sheffield. We are looking forward to being a part of this inspiring project and to collaborating with the other Harmony Works’ partners to bring more musical experiences to more people in the city and beyond.” Visit Brass Bands England’s website here.

Music in the Round is the leading national promoter of chamber music, with a year-round programme of hundreds of events for people of all ages. For nearly 40 years it has been bringing people and music closer together through friendly and informative ‘in the round’ performances, hosting the annual nine-day Sheffield Chamber Music Festival and reaching over 25,000 people with events across South Yorkshire and nationally. Its award-winning Learning and Participation programme reaches 10,000 0-19-year-olds each year through concerts for schools and families alongside workshops and other projects. Jo Towler, Chief Executive of Music in the Round said, “Harmony Works places music education right in the heart of Sheffield, accessible to everyone, and this strongly resonates with Music in the Round and our aim of getting people closer to the music. We are excited to be a partner of this pioneering new home for music in the city centre and look forward to working together to inspire current and future generations of young music-makers from across Sheffield and South Yorkshire.”. They were founded by Peter Cropper of the Lindsay Quartet in 1984, forming the eleven-piece Ensemble 360 as their new resident ensemble in 2005. Visit Music in the Round’s website here.

“Harmony Works is delighted to welcome Music in the Round and Brass Bands England as Partners. We see huge scope to work together to deliver the Harmony Works Vision of enriching and enhancing the lives and futures of young people through music. Having two National Portfolio Organisations working with us really helps to raise the profile of this exciting project and demonstrates how others believe in the step change that Harmony Works can make for the Region and its children. Over the coming months we’ll be collaborating on plans for the repurposing of Canada House and for delivering exciting musical projects together to reach all the communities of the Sheffield Region.” Emily Pieters, Director of Harmony Works
