Students at Sheffield University School of Architecture create digital engagement model for young people

The below is written by the students involved in the project:

We are architecture students at the University of Sheffield working on a digital design engagement tool that will include young people in the future vision of Canada House. The communities of young people that Harmony Works is involved with are central to the future of the organisation, so they’re committed to a collaborative design process. We plan to create a tool to enable this.

We will be creating an interactive 3D digital model, presenting the past, present and future of Canada House. This model will facilitate engagement activities, bringing to life the exciting possibilities for the building and gathering the thoughts and ideas of the future users. The 3D model will also be used as a device to communicate proposals to the wider community (including adults and organisations who will use Canada House). Navigating this model will be a journey through the eclectic history of Canada House, an exploration of the impressive building as it currently is, and a glimpse into the possible futures that are still to be decided. We hope to celebrate the impressive scale and grandeur of Canada House in a playful and dynamic way, creating a design process which is approachable and inclusive to all involved. We are enthusiastic about the possibilities of this project to show how technology can be used to further the scope of community engaged design.
